Cynthia Papermaster is a an impeachment activist with Bay Area Code Pink and organizer of the California Impeachment Coalition. She is running against Pete Stark as a write-in candidate in the June primary because, while Stark is a recent co-sponsor of H. Res. 799, the Kucinich articles of impeachment for Dick Cheney, he needs to take the next step-- hoppering his own articles of impeachment. Stark helped get Nixon's impeachment hearings started by filing resolutions for impeachment. I'm working to remind him that he can once again stand up for lawful government and uphold his oath to defend the Constitution by forcing the Judicary Committee to hold hearings for Cheney. We can't surrender our constitutional right to impeach. We must force our representatives to put principles before partisanship and hold Cheney accountable for his many impeachable crimes. If Pete signed on to H. Res. 799 to placate the 64% of his constitutents who want impeachment, I want to let the voters know that. But if he really wants to see Cheney investigated, I want to encourage him to go for it and write his own articles of impeachment. I and other candidates are forming a California Impeachment Slate. Together we hope to break through the media blackout on impeachment with several "hooks": 1) there are over 20 impeachment candidates and the list is growing 2) many of us are challenging popular incumbents whose seats are safe-- this is completely unheard of 3) we are being completely honest and straightforward about the dangerous situation facing our nation due to the machinations of Dick Cheney and his cabal of neocons
